I’ve met a lot of men who are intimidated by the thought of meditation.
Turns out, they had their mind locked in on meditation meaning that you weren’t supposed to think about anything. In fact, you should “turn your mind off.”
Good luck with that.
When I started my personal development journey, over 20 years ago, I realized that this mindset made meditation something that many men couldn’t access.
I knew there had to be a better way, so I created what I call, Intentional Quiet Time (IQT).
During this time, you only focus is your breathing. If you start drifting off into thoughts, that’s okay, just bring yourself back to your breathing.
In the traditional mindset of meditation, you find somewhere comfortable to sit cross-legged, perfect posture, get quiet, hold your thumbs and fingers together, and maybe breath out a few “ommmmmmm’s”.
And that’s fine…
…it works for some people.
However, as ambitious and self-led men, what’s important to embrace is that our brains are designed to create and offer up insights that can drastically change our lives…
…if we give them the space they need, and take action on them.
So, I created a new practice called: Thinkitation.
Thinkitation is all about setting aside a minimum of 15 uninterrupted minutes and allowing yourself to just think through things.
Think through whatever your mind is connecting to.
Write your thoughts down.
Uncover the thoughts within those thoughts.
Connect your thoughts together.
Discover the action plans that those thoughts generate.
Repeat and win.
Think → Write → Uncover → Connect → Discover → Repeat
You can do this while taking a walk through nature, sitting on a park bench, or flying in an airplane.
The key is that it’s an INTENTIONAL act, so you don’t allow yourself to be interrupted by your normal distractions.
Thinkitation is the new meditation.
That’s perfect.
